Video of the Week: Mountain bike speed record

This successful record attempt is a few years old now (not sure if there is anyone else on the earth stupid enough to try to break it). It was achieved on a stock downhill mountain bike which you could purchase at a local bike shop.

Markus Stöckl beat the old record by going to the top of a volcano in Nicaragua, putting on a skin tight red super hero suit and funny aero helmet, jumping on a stock standard downhill mountain bike and letting go of the brakes! In doing this he managed to clock an unofficial speed record of 102mph (164.95 km/h).

I guess this is what is possible with moths flying close to the flame and having a company like RedBull to encourage it. Chapeau Markus.

If only he had tucked those elbows in a bit more.....
