Features

Unique production plant: The BMC impec may not have reinvented the bike, but in creating it, BMC reinvented bike production processes. While the rest of the world increasingly outsources the manufacturing of complex consumer goods to Asia, BMC decided to implement its own in-house manufacturing process for super-high-quality carbon frames. Alongside this revolutionary action, our engineers were tasked with just one goal: build the perfect bike.

High degree of automation: With extremely precise automated production processes, BMC eliminates any possibility for human imprecision in hand-made construction. BMC “robots” are machines created solely for the purpose of consistently precise frame production, thereby guaranteeing repeatable tube quality and assembly of the very highest quality. This automated manufacturing process also gives the impec racing bike its striking appearance, especially at the tube junctions, or nodes, were individual tubes are joined by carbon-injected half-shells.

Perfect balance: Thanks also to this sophisticated production process, each frame’s mechanical properties can be infinitely tuned and refined. With our Load Specific Weave (LSW), BMC controls the material density and orientation of the fibers according to the specific load carried and deflected by each tube. As a result, performance factors such as vertical compliance and stiffness are optimized to attain not only maximized power transfer, but also a comfortable ride. The tubes are then connected using carbon injected shells, or nodes. This technology is called Shell Node Concept (SNC), and it ensures precise and automated bonding of the individual tubes.

Race-proven technology: BMC’s revolutionary manufacturing process makes it possible to perfectly balance stiffness and comfort, creating an unparalleled riding feel. It is therefore no surprise that world-class athletes, such as the Australian Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans, selected the impec as their preferred racing bike after its introduction.

Rider Profile:
Designed for the serious road racer, the EVO breaks the mold for elite race machines.
The SuperSix EVO is:
- LIGHT: At under 700 grams, it is the lightest production frame in the world.
- STIFF: It has the best stiffness-to-weight ever recorded, an incredible 142.3 Nm/deg/kg.
- STRONG: Outperforms even most aluminum frames in destructive and fatigue testing.
- SMOOTH: The two zone SPEED SAVE micro-suspension system improves comfort, speed, and control.
- SLIM: EVO's smaller diameter tubes give it a significant aero advantage over its oversized competitors,
without the weight and stiffness compromises of aero tube shapes.

TECHNOLOGIES
BallisTec Carbon:
Cannondale's High Strength carbon construction method allows us to achieve extreme light weight, without sacrificing stiffness or strength.

EVO Frame Options
EVO Nano:
The lightest production frame on the planet utilizes advanced high modulus BallisTec Construction and nano tech resins for maximum weight savings.

EVO Hi-MOD:
The frame that started it all in 2012. High modulus BallisTec construction delivers extreme light weight and stiffness.

EVO Carbon:
By using a higher percentage of intermediate-modulus fiber to tune the stiffness, we are able to expand the EVO line with a super high-performance, sub-950 gram frame. Offered both with and without internal rear brake routing.

SPEED SAVE
Micro-Suspension Rear Stays Subtle flex zones built into the chainstays and seatstays allow the rear wheel to track the ground, improving speed, handling and comfort. Tuned to work with the SPEED SAVE Fork.

SPEED SAVE Fork This 315 gram fork features full BallisTec carbon construction, an 1-1/8"to 1-1/4" tapered steerer for the best balance of weight and stiffness, and offset dropouts, which allow for more fork angle and compliance without affecting handling.

Reduced Frontal Area:
Compared to the oversized competition, the EVO's downtube is close to 20% smaller, the headtube 11% smaller, and the fork blades 15% thinner. This means less frontal area and less drag. In fact, tests show that EVO has a mere 14g more drag than the best "aero" frames without their added weight and harsh ride.

Continuous Carbon:
A continuous network of high modulus stiffening fibers runs around joint areas and along the outer edges of the frames tubes, connecting all parts of the frame and allowing precise tuning of stiffness and ride quality.

- UCI-legal, FACT 11r carbon frameset with one-piece carbon OSBB/chainstay, internal cable routing, and
tapered headtube; S-Works full carbon monocoque fork with 3:1 airfoil shaping and straight profile for best
combination of aerodynamics and stiffness

- Ultra-light Roval Rapide CLX 60 full carbon clincher with CeramicSpeed bearings delivers incredible
braking performance with the perfect balance of aerodynamics, stiffness and weight

- New S-Works Turbo 24c 220TPI tire is fast and light, offering extremely low rolling resistance and superior
cornering traction for easier climbing, faster descending, and harder cornering

- S-Works FACT carbon crankset is OSBB, with removable carbon spider, and CeramicSpeed ceramic
bearings for maximum power transfer

- Romin Evo Pro saddle, with FACT carbon rails, delivers the same ergonomically designed, scientifically-
proven Body Geometry features that allow riders to deliver power in low, aerodynamic positions

- Stiff, light, UCI-legal, bladed S-Works carbon seatpost flips between 20mm and 0mm setback; plus a
wide range of vertical adjustability

700 Series OCLV: Each level of OCLV offers the best ride for the money, thanks to an optimal balance of areal weight, stiffness, and compliance. 700 Series OCLV is the lightest, strongest carbon in the cycling world, built from strategic materials available exclusively to Trek. It’s the ultimate combination of superior modulus and superior strength, only from Trek.

HexSL Carbon: Ultra-advanced HexSL carbon fiber defies the stiffness/strength tradeoff by increasing both simultaneously. A Trek exclusive, found only in 700 Series OCLV.

KVF Fork: Our slippery fork features KVF aero legs to minimize drag, while the unique molded carbon dropouts reduce weight. The new fork also increases lateral stiffness for ultra-precise handling.

KVF Tube Shape: The Madone frame is based on our groundbreaking KVF (Kammtail Virtual Foil) tube shape. KVF minimizes drag using a truncated airfoil shape. The virtual tail of the airfoil bends to respond to the angle of the most common crosswinds, significantly reducing drag in the real world, where it really matters. It's like getting 25 free watts.

Brakeless Seatstay: Madone’s integrated brakes allowed us to redesign the seatstay, eliminating the brake bridge and removing reinforcing layers to shed weight without compromising performance. Unrestricted by the need for a brake mount, we positioned the stays for best performance and incorporated the KVF shape for maximum aero benefit.

Integrated Brakes: Brakes should slow you down, but only when you apply them. We've built front and rear brakes directly into the Madone fuselage to keep them hidden from the wind, reducing drag.
Bonus: eliminating the mounting plates and bolts saves weight.

Ride Tuned Seatmast: Our Ride Tuned seatmast is the lightest, most comfortable solution for day-in, day-out performance and comfort. The no-cut design eliminates traditional seatpost clamping forces, so we can use less material at the seat tube junction, resulting in a lighter frame. Most seatmast systems have to be cut, leaving little or no room for adjustability. Our Ride Tuned seatmast system has more than 10cm of adjustment, making it the most adjustable system on the market.

E2 Head Tube and Fork: Our E2 head tube tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing, and is wider side to side than front to back. This asymmetric steering system minimizes weight while maximizing power transfer and keeping the fork stiffer under cornering loads. Result: a more powerful and confident ride.

Electronic Drivetrain Integration: Specific cable stops and proprietary seat tube battery mount or bottom bracket battery mount allow for a perfect interface with the industry-leading electronic drivetrain systems without a single zip tie or strip of tape. It’s the most seamless component integration in the industry. Easily replace the bottom bracket cable stop with a slick battery mount, or use an internal battery for the cleanest and lightest system.

BB90: BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate. BB90 eliminates the need for extra inserts and parts in the bottom bracket/frame junction. Fewer parts mean a lighter frame. And a lighter frame means a faster ride.
