500 Series OCLV: Over two decades ago, Trek engineers developed our Optimum Compaction, Low Void carbon manufacturing process, enabling us to produce carbon bikes with consistency and quality previously thought impossible. It was an industry breakthrough… and to this day, Trek OCLV carbon frames are the best, most consistent you can buy. Each level of OCLV offers the best ride for the money, thanks to an optimal balance of areal weight, stiffness, and compliance. 500 Series OCLV achieves a superb balance of light weight, strength, and stiffness that's perfectly suited to the sophisticated frame technologies that distinguish Trek frames.
E2 head tube and fork: Our E2 head tube tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing, and is wider side to side than front to back. This asymmetric steering system minimizes weight while maximizing power transfer and keeping the fork stiffer under cornering loads. Result: a more powerful and confident ride.
Crown-mounted housing stop: Brake chatter occurs when the steerer tube flexes under hard braking loads. This increases the distance between the traditional headset housing stop and the brake caliper, causing the brake to chatter. Trek's crown-mounted housing stop isolates the brake cable from steerer tube flex, significantly reducing chatter for better braking performance in all conditions.
Gary Fisher Collection: Innovative bikes imagined by Gary Fisher, built by Trek.
Adjustable cable routing: Allows you to run portions of the internal cable routing with or without full housing.
BB90: BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate
Internal cable routing: You can look for the brake and shift cables, but you won’t see them... and neither will the wind. Cables contribute a massive amount of drag, and routing them internally through the bars and frame eliminates that drag and maximizes speed.
Direct-mount front derailleur: Provides accurate shifting in a lightweight, minimal package.
Vanishing fender mounts: Discreet mounts accommodate full-coverage fenders for added utility. Ample wheel clearance lets you ride up to 25mm tires with full coverage fenders or 28mm tires without fenders, and brake nuts are threaded so you never have to remove your brakes for fender installation.
