Read more Just bought the 2015 Giant FastRoad Comax 1 on August 15, 2015 and was flying down the road this week amid stares of amazement and concern. I was moving fast and hard. I put on at least 150 clicks and am really digging' the ride. The Comax 1 is fast, sharp looking and light.
For the record, I am 6 feet, 210 pounds with a 32 inseam so the large frame fits me perfectly. I ride between 2 to 3 hours, 3 times a week and stay on the road.
The 105 rear derailleur shifts smoothly with the front 50-34 cog allowing me to complete long climbs without doing myself in. I descend in ways that would make Tour guys envious. Well, maybe not that fast but I hit about 50 clicks an hour on descents.
The bike is quiet but the DFuse seat post clicks as it absorbs the road bumps. This brings me to the topic of comfort. I prefer a more upright geometry so I am getting my handlebars raised with an adjustable stem and am going to shorten them because they are too wide for my liking.
The saddle is going to change to a noseless or something with a bit more gel. I am open to suggestions.
I am not crazy for the bar ends because I don't need them for any aggressive climbs. I can't source any Ritchey components down here but would like to get a Ritchey carbon adjustable stem and carbon bar ends.
I had to replace my back tube on my first ride because a tiny nail found its way on the paved bike path. I changed my tube on the spot with the portable kit and I am buying Conti Gatorskins this week to solve that issue.
There are always custom adjustments required for any bike and these will set me back several hundred dollars. At the end of the day, I have an efficient set of wheels that gets me moving on the road with speed, comfort and pleasure.
