Read more I bought a Corrente Tiagra in early 2011 for daily commuting rather than ride my club bike with rim brakes to work. The price was excellent compared to similar bikes from other brands and the hydraulic brakes are fantastic. Took it on a multi-day tour with a rack and panniers without an issue. Generally very happy with it.
Almost exactly two years after purchase I found a crack in the frame near the bottom bracket. It took 2 weeks just to have the warranty claim approved and they wanted another 3 weeks to ship a replacement frame. I asked if I could have a similar frame from a current bike in stock, but they said no. I asked if I could just buy a whole new bike at a good price, but they said no. Also, when the replacement frame arrives it will not have another 2 year warranty, just the 3 weeks I had left on the original warranty.
A month and a half without a bike is a poor effort. Not resetting the warranty on the replacement frame is terrible. Not wanting to sell me another bike just to smooth things over and get me back on the road is a disgrace. My next bike will not be a Focus.
