Video of the Week: Filip Polc's Taxco Downhill run in 2013

We're in a bit of a downhill mood at BikeRoar at the moment. This week we are jumping forward 18 years after our recent flirt with history to the 2013 Yaxco downhill event. Any downhill mountain biker worth his salt will have heard of Taxco in Mexico. It is home to one of the most awesome and frightening downhill events.

The race starts in a typical fashion with a run through steep forested singletrack, but from here things really amp up! The course winds its way through the narrow streets, down multiple steep stairs cases and alleys, launches over strategically placed jumps and all this with crowds of people lining almost every meter of the track.

The video was taken with the Drift HD camera, and as inspiring as the riding is, I can't help but mention the video equipment as well. We have reviewed the Drift Ghost HD previously and were very impressed, but we never put it through its paces quite like this! I am amazed at the way the camera holds an impressive resolution even during the high speed stair descents where there is a massive amount of buffering. There were only a couple of places where there was a noticeable blur but overall an amazing performance.

So, if you aren't stupid enough to ride a ridiculous course like this, at least you can subscribe to BikeRoar and get the chance to win the camera!
