Description

The Superfly FS 8 from Trek offers the same performance as its carbon racebike siblings, but this time crafted in lightweight aluminum. This sleek cross country machine features a Fox Evolution suspension setup for impressive control on rough terrain. Shimano SLX and Deore components make up the drivetrain and braking system, and parts from FSA and KMC add performance. Bontrager wheels and tires finish things off.

The Hawk Hill Jr is built around our MultiTrac suspension system and is our most capable kids bike ever, with all of the modern adult tech and trail geometry in a package for the younger rider. Lightweight 24" wheels and air tuned suspension lead to a fun bike out on the trail, equally at home on rolling hills or downhill singletrack. Switch to 26" wheels down the line as the Hawk Hill Jr grows with your kid.

Features

G2 Geometry:
Conventional wisdom says 29ers have sleepy handling compared to 26" wheel bikes. We solved that with G2 Geometry, featuring a custom-offset fork and advanced frame geometry for precise handling at low speed without compromising high-speed stability. It’s why Trek 29ers handle better than any others.

Flow Mold carbon swing link:
Our exclusive Flow Molded carbon linkage uses a unique carbon shaping process that minimizes material and weight while maintaining a strong bracing angle for a more rigid frame.

Alpha Platinum Aluminum:
Our premium lightweight aluminum is continuously cold extruded and butted at multiple points for ultimate weight reduction and superior strength. Frames built with Alpha Platinum are hydroformed to create the most sophisticated shapes for the lightest weight, and are finished using Trek's smooth-weld finishing process.

ABP:
Other full suspension systems firm up under braking, reducing your control when you need it most. Trek’s patented Active Braking Pivot solves that by keeping your suspension active whether you're on the brakes or off. The ABP axle is fully convertible between 142x12 and 135x5 standards, offers easy wheel installation, and is at least 20% stiffer than any open dropout design.

E2 tapered head tube:
E2 is the evolution of the traditional 1-1/8" headset to a tapered head tube, fork, and headset system. E2 tapers from a 1.5" lower to a 1-1/8" upper headset to provide more material where it matters most, resulting in a stronger, lighter frame with point-and-shoot control.

Internal shock routing:
Internal rear shock remote lockout routing solves the persistent issue of how to route the remote lockout cable by running it through the top tube for a clean, protected solution.

Dropper post internal routing:
Dropper posts are great for while-you-ride seat height adjustments, but cable routing has always been an issue. RockShox Reverb Stealth routes the hydraulic housing directly through the frame for the sleekest setup you've seen.

Front derailleur pivot mount:
Innovative derailleur placement doesn’t require a band clamp, or the additional frame material required for direct mounting. Reduces weight without compromising performance.

Fully integrated head tube:
A fully integrated head tube eliminates the need for headset cups, reducing overall weight without sacrificing performance.

Press-fit bottom bracket:
Press-fit BB is a bottom bracket shell that allows the bearings to press into the frame rather than threading in as on standard bottom brackets. This provides a wider stance for the frame’s tubing juncture, resulting in a stronger frame. This wider stance also mimics the benefits of an OCLV Carbon-only technology, BB95.
