At home in some of the wettest, muddiest, gnarliest terrain known to mankind, we’ve figured out a thing or two about what it takes to make a mean cyclocross bike: one that sheds mud, ports easy and crushes any root or rock in its path. The 2013 Diamondback Steilacoom CCX is the perfect embodiment of everything Northwest. It’s well-equipped to tackle any single track, mud field, sand pit, staircase, hurdle or inclement weather between the starting gate and the finish line. At the core is the DBR CX Fully Butted 7005 Alloy Competition Cyclocross frame with formed top tube and an integrated headtube. The frame is light and durable which is something that we look for in a cross bike. The formed top tube features a flat bottom for easy portage over any hurdle.
Paired well with the frame is a DBCX carbon fork that’s exceptionally strong and stiff. With an alloy steerer and clearance for larger tires and fenders, the fork is a versatile and exceptional addition.
Component pairing comes in hot and proper with a Shimano Sora build including front and rear derailleur and dual control 9spd brake lever/shifters which are linked to Tektro CR510 canti’s to stop ya at the drop of a dime. The FSA Gossamer Cross crankset is standard as far as cross cranks are concerned and the BB30 technology offers a light weight and exceptionally stiff pedaling platform. For the 46t & 36t double set.
Equation CX cross rims are light and stiff and look amazing with white spokes laced to sealed cartridge bearing hubs. Kenda Small Block 8 700×32c tires create a grippy equation for any situation.
DBR drop bars and a DBR 3D forged stem offer precise and accurate steering while the DBR Performance Micro Adjust alloy Post (27.2mm) supports a WTB Volt Race saddle for maximum comfort with race friendly size and weight in mind.
