E2 tapered head tube: Point-and-shoot control. E2 is the evolution of the traditional 1-1/8" headset to a tapered head tube, fork, and headset system. E2 tapers from a 1.5" lower to a 1-1/8" upper headset to provide more material where it matters most, resulting in a stronger, lighter frame with point-and-shoot control.
Balanced post mount brake: The brake calliper is a structural part of the frame, anchored between the chainstay and seatstay. It reduces weight by eliminating the need for a chainstay/seatstay brace.
Closed convert dropouts: Hardtails offer the robust performance of a closed through-axle system with the convenience of a system that can accept 142x12 or 135x5 rear spacing.
Alpha Platinum Aluminium: Our premium lightweight aluminium is continuously cold extruded and butted at multiple points for ultimate weight reduction and superior strength. Frames built with Alpha Platinum are hydroformed to create the most sophisticated shapes for the lightest weight, and are finished using Trek's smooth-weld finishing process.

Press-fit bottom bracket: Press-fit BB is a bottom bracket shell that allows the bearings to press into the frame rather than threading in as on standard bottom brackets. This provides a wider stance for the frame’s tubing juncture, resulting in a stronger frame. This wider stance also mimics the benefits of an OCLV Carbon-only technology, BB95.
Fully integrated head tube: A fully integrated head tube eliminates the need for headset cups, reducing overall weight without sacrificing performance.
2x10: A 10-speed cassette and 2-ring crankset deliver a full range of usable gears, with less weight and easier, smoother gear shifting.
142x12: Stiffer thru axle, easy wheel changes. Our robust and confidence-inspiring rear thru axle is about 35% stiffer than an open-dropout design. And now, a thru-axle wheel change is actually quick and easy, thanks to a tabbed guide in the frame's dropout.
Climb-Trail-Descend: CTD gives you three suspension-adjustment options: Climb, Trail, or Descend. It’s a simple, intuitive, high-performance system available on selected Fox shocks and forks.
Suspension lockout: Locked suspension means your fork remains inactive, increasing pedalling efficiency. Perfect for extended road sections where efficiency is more important than bump absorption.
Remote lockout: Handlebar-mounted controls let you lock out your suspension on the fly as you switch terrains.
