Review

The Rocky Mountain Altitude has been around for a while and that's a good thing because every year it keeps getting better and better. This is the carbon 750 MSL version which sits pretty much in the middle of the range. Like many boutique mountain bike brands expect to pay a little extra for a bike of this caliber, but once ridden the question of value quickly evaporates.

The frame features a carbon front triangle and alloy rear to take advantage of the unique characteristics of each material. Additional technology abounds which includes the Ride-9™ System, which allows 9 different geometry configurations so you can dial it in and ride away perfectly setup for your physiological (weight) requirements.

The Altitude is a noted all-rounder, and as such can handle fast and technical descents with confidence and is also no slouch when it comes to pedaling back up the hill.

The Fox 34 front fork gives the front end plenty of stiffness and pointability (made-up word! but you know what I mean), and the SRAM X7/X9 drivetrain offers no frills shifting and is reliable and sturdy enough to take plenty of all-mountain abuse.

The tag "all-mountain" really means something when attached to a bike like this. It may not be too good for XC racing and if you want to go freeriding I would pick something else, but for everything in between this bike is gold!
