Details

Fifty Bicycles That Changed The World is a book that visits some of the biggest changes in cycling, by way of the bikes that took us through them. Beginning with the velocipede of the early 1800s, author Alex Newson voyages to the introduction of the chain drive, internal gearing, and the Stumpjumper. Less earth-shaking but still of quite some interest, he also includes the Strida folding bike, the hundreds of millions strong Flying Pigeon, the Monty trials bike (remember Ot Pi?), the Raleigh Chopper and its five-speed top tube gear shifter, and other glories of cycling history.
An enjoyable read on the history of the bike.
