Ruby on Rails Web Developer 

We are on the look out for a talented lead developer to work at our Yatala head office, near Gold Coast, Australia. You will be required to work on various Ruby on Rails development projects for BikeRoar   

Along with the development of applications / functions for this site, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and deploying of outsourced tasks to production.  

This role will involve working with a project manager to create development briefs & manage the development process ensuring outsourced development is completed to an acceptable level.  

Please note that candidates will be required to complete a short sample project upon progressing to the interview stage to evaluate their capabilities.  If the candidate resides overseas, he/she will be working from home during the trial period before moving to Australia to work from our head office.   

Our office is based halfway between Brisbane and Gold Coast.  We will sponsor the applicant to be able to work full-time in Australia.   

Experience in managing outsourced development staff is highly desirable.   

Sound written and speaking English skills are essential.   

Technical Skills (Essential):  
Ruby on Rails (v3.1+) & Ruby (v1.9+)
MySQL (v5+) database
HTML5 & CSS3
Javascript & jQuery
Git distributed version control system
Linux (Pref Red hat) Server Management
Server deployment via Capistrano and Passenger
Experience with Github and gitflow

Additional Skills (Desired):  
Experience working with various API formats
TDD practices, plus skills with RSpec, Cucumber, Capybara and Poltergeist
PSD to HTML slicing
Plesk Control Panel
Comfortable working on Mac
