Microshift is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of drivetrain components. The current catalogue is quite extensive, with many available models of shift lever, cassette, and derailleur. Components from Microshift are sold via distributors, directly to bike manufacturers, and provided to other companies for re-branding.

The company was formed in 1999. The founders of the company came from a number of different parts makers, bringing over 20 years of experience in the bike industry. Its first product was a twist shifter; trigger shifters were next introduced, then front and rear derailleurs; Microshift was the first Taiwanese company to make derailleurs. Today the company has two factories, one in China and the other in Taiwan; the second is also its headquarters.

Currently, Microshift's best-known product is its bar-end shifter, achieving popularity with triathletes, and now seen on many bikes with aero bars, paired with high-end components from other manufacturers. Models are offered for use with Shimano groups from Dura Ace all the way down to Sora, for two- or three-ring drivetrains, and cassettes from nine to eleven speeds. The company prides itself on its drop-in compatibility.

Other road shifters include triggers, combination levers, and even downtube levers, the last stylistically reminiscent of the old bar-top thumb levers for mountain bikes, with a crisp modern index. Two pair include an indexed/friction switch, excellent for adventurous bike tourists. Road derailleurs cover the same terrain, with an even greater range, including the un-named Shimano 2303 group. Cassettes include 8, 9, 10, and 11 speeds.

Mountain componentry covers similar territory, expanding its rear shifters to include cog sets as few as five, and its rear derailleurs to encompass as few as six. Long and short cages are available for nearly every rear derailleur. The city components also include shifters for internal gears.

Providing quality componentry directly and indirectly to a large swath of the bike industry, Microshift is a name you can rely on. The company's future is bright.
