Chris King Bike Parts & Accessories
Founded by Chris King in Santa Barbara, California in 1976. Chris is challenged by a cycling companion to make a better headset for their road bikes and word quickly spreads throughout the California cycling community. in 1978 Chris founds Cielo Cycles and begins producing steel framesets and, for a time, framebuilding dominates his production time. The mountain bike suddenly booms and with it comes the demand for durable, high-performance headsets. Chris turns his full attention back to components in 1983 adding hubs, tools, and bottom brackets to the model line-up over the next 30 years. In 1999 Chris moves the company to the Redding / Lake Shasta area of Northern California. Just a few years later, in December of 2003, Chris King moves the company to Portland, Oregon and takes occupancy of the old MJB Coffee roasting plant just outside of downtown. Cielo Cycles returns in 2008 and now occupies a major portion of the northeast corner of the production facility. As King Cycle Group, Chris King Precision Components and Cielo Cycles employ 94 people.
