ByK Bikes is a manufacturer of children's bikes. Beginning with a handful of simple models, the current line has over thirty, from balance bikes for two- to four-year-old absolute beginners to full-on cyclocross models for early teens, almost ready to graduate to adult bikes. From its home in Australia, ByK bikes are distributed internationally, available in shops throughout Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, and directly from ByK to anywhere in the world.

ByK was founded by Warren Key in 2007, after the parent of three young children discovered that traditional kid's bikes were difficult for young riders to maneuver. Key had owned bike shops for a quarter of a century, but it took his own child's experience with the available beginner's bikes to bring home their inadequacies. Traditional bicycles were too heavy for children to start moving, and prone to topple over at low speeds. ByK's designs consider the proportions and capacities of young riders: the models are lightweight, with low centers of gravity, and tall wheels with low rolling resistance, easier to push off and much more stable at low speeds.

The bike line comprehensively provides for young riders, of all ages, sizes, and skill levels. Beginning with balance bikes, available in several styles and two size ranges, the ByK difference is immediately apparent; the smallest rider will be able to start under her own power, feeling confident astride the highly stable E-250L. Hand brakes are part of every bike built by ByK: riders have an opportunity to become familiar with their operation from the first time they push off on their new balance bike. Next are the Standard bikes, equpiied with pedals. Every Standard offers multiple ways to get moving, includes training wheels and a push handle. Advancing up the range, functionality is gradually introduced, from gearing to new terrain to drop bar positioning.

ByK makes bikes well designed for children. Take your young rider to a shop and experience the difference for yourself.
