The Fisher 29ers have been around for a long time now, so long in fact that they are now called Trek. This isn't a bad thing as all the features you got with a Gary Fisher live on here in the Superfly: the geometry, the ride feel, the quality.

G2 bikes seem quite long and look the least 29erish of many current bikes. Although the combination of a very short head tube with some slack angles actually makes for quite a nippy bike and not ponderous at all, through even tight singletrack.

Components are all reliable Shimano SLX and XT. It is interesting to see a triple crankset with quite a big chainring for a 29er. The bike may have been better kitted with a double, seems a more appropriate match to the big wheels. It is nice to see Shimano brakes as well. I am a fan and think they are some of the best out there. These are SLX so not quite as good as XT, but at this price I'm all smiles!

This is a beautiful bike to ride, it is fast and nippy, but also comfortable and stretched out. It would be well suited to someone looking at doing some XC racing, but also to the MTBer who wants a great quality 29er hardtail to have some fun on.

You can get better specced bikes out there, but will they ride like a Fisher? Probably not
