Trek Remedy 7 (2017)

About 3 months ago i purchased a Trek Fuel EX 8 to replace an aging Top Fuel. I fell in love with the bike, fast, nimble; took to the trails like a greyhound. Two months ago i was looking for something a little more “downhill-ish”, for more aggressive riding but with same nimble feeling. The 2017 Remedy 7 called my name. I got on the bike and it fit, everything about it just felt right. The Fuel is still a great ride and I use it a lot, but the Remedy 7 is my choice for right now.

First off, is the “coolness” factor, if that is such a thing. The bike is simply cool looking! Stealth black in color, sits up proud, jet black Rockshox fork and rear suspension.

The Remedy 7 is Alpha Platinum Aluminum with a slack and lower geometry allowing for a great downhill experience, but climbs well too. You have up to 150mm of travel on the RockShox Yari and ReAvtiv shock technology on the Rockshox Deluxe SL rear. I have always ridden Fox, but this suspension is amazing. Mino link technology allows for even a slacker headtube and lower bottom bracket to adapt to any style or trail ridden.

The Remedy is one of stiffest bikes Trek has ever make due to a straight downtube. Stiffness means better more comfortable ride and control, which I noticed right away. Boost hub technology allows for stiffer wheels and also opens frame and fork to run wider tires. Control freak internal cable routing gets the cables out of the way.

Trek has never been afraid to use various components to give the best ride: Shimano Deore shifters, Deore and SLX front and rear derailleurs respectively, Race Face cranks, Deore hydraulic disc brakes, KS dropper. The Remedy 7 is a 2x11-36 and shifts flawlessly even in wet muddy conditions. All this come in at around 30lbs.

This is a fantastic bike, if you ever have a chance to demo one give it a try.  Less
