Review

Raleigh are certainly no stranger to building gorgeous steel bikes with a traditional feel, and the Clubman fits this mold comfortably. I'll say it again, this is a good looking bike. It has qualities that even a purist would have issues complaining about. Brooks saddle, lugged fork, pedals with leather straps and the ivory paint job - what a blast!

Now, some technical stuff. By using Reynolds tubing the frame weight has been kept in check, despite this being a lot of bike. I also love the juxtaposition of the traditional parts and look, and the use of modern Shimano Tiagra shifters and drivetrain. This bike not only has the looks...it goes well too. Actually it moves along really well. The quality frame soaks up the nastiest of potholes while you ride confidently along unperturbed.

With such a comfortable riding position, this bike would be happy on a long day out touring as well as a city commuter. The geometry probably isn't for the racier at heart, but once wound up, the Clubman will hold its momentum smoothly and without too much effort. As you would also expect, the frame is setup with pannier mount points and comes equipped with mud guards. An ideal bike for the winter months.

Raleigh have again hit the mark by designing a traditional steel commuter and then balancing the package with components from the modern era.

Recommended for all day touring, commuting or just as an extra bike for Sunday best.
