Review
The Kona Ute is described as the SUV of the bike world and for good reason. This bicycle seriously questions the necessity for owning a car. The heart of the bike is a long wheelbase alloy frame, designed to make the bike sturdy enough to carry just about anything.
The features of the Ute compose of some great stuff like the wooden cargo deck and custom made waterproof pannier bags. These quality specifications are matched by a decent component set including a quality Shimano drivetrain, Tektro disc brakes and a steering stabilizer, useful for when you're carrying a decent load.
It is certain that their will be few Strava KOM's attained riding this bike, but you will be able to ride the kid's to school or haul a decent amount of cargo across town...and you'll look awesome doing it. Expect more admiring looks riding a Kona Ute than on your $10,000 carbon roadie for sure.
The Kona is a great choice as an alternate means of transport. The interesting choice of large diameter road wheels ensures this bike will still roll along with minimum resistance and the wide 40mm tires offer plenty of grip and comfort.
If you're after a bike that wears the name "utility" proudly and purposefully then the Kona Ute is your ride. When the oil finally runs out, will you care?
The Kona Ute is designed to replace your car with an environmentally-friendly solution. This load-hauling beast is ready to carry groceries, kids, construction materials, or whatever else you desire. The tough aluminum long-wheelbase frame features a built-in cargo platform. Reliable Shimano components take care of drivetrain tasks, and parts from FSA, Wellgo, Freedom, and Kona round out the spec. Included cargo bags help organize your goodies for the ride home.
