Irwin Tools is a United States-based tool manufacturer, producing hand tools and accessories for power tools. Their range is extensive, from multi-tools to handsaws, tap and die sets to C-clamps. Irwin is the producer of the iconic Vise-Grip locking plier, found in one or another incarnation in just about every toolbox.

Irwin's history is a long one. Beginning in 1885 with the purchase of the rights to a local inventor's auger bit, the original company was acquired by American Tool Companies, the direct descendant of one William Petersen, the inventor of the vise grip. In the 21st century, the company's third, American changed its name to Irwin. Still thriving today, the company manufactures hundreds of hand tools, many very useful to the bike mechanic, be they housed in a basement or a pro shop.

The Vise-Grip itself is a boon to cyclists. Its ingenious mechanism holds cables and bolt ends firmly, freeing an oft-needed hand for another purpose. Many of Irwin's utilitarian collection are also staples of the well-equipped mechanic, from shears for cables to soft, frame-friendly wooden clamps.

Irwin's hand tools are available in hardware stores around the world. Find the right tool for any job in the tools aisle nearest you.
